Mobile Marketing – CIMA Engages Members With Text Reminders

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants,  the world’s largest professional body of management accountants, is using Text Marketer’s web based sms service to communicate with its members.

Recently lapsed CIMA members are now sent an sms alert reminding them to renew their membership, with an incentive of a 50% discount

“Hi, Come back and regain your CIMA status. Half price re-reg until 31 May. Renew now at www.cimaglobal.com/ukrenewal or call 02088492251.”

Adopting a mobile marketing strategy to retain members is a very cost effective option for CIMA. Mobile marketing campaigns can be set up in a matter of minutes and there are no set up or monthly fees. Compared with any other direct marketing channels, mobile marketing has astonishing open and read rates. The IAB recently released mobile marketing research which revealed that 98% of text messages that arrive on mobiles are read within 4 minutes. By comparison, email marketers would be pleased with an open rate of 20%.

Thankfully, mobile marketing remains remarkably responsive and we are not deluged with spam as we are with email. Whether mobile marketing will remain as responsive in years to come is unclear, so now is the time to adopt a mobile marketing strategy to gain maximum impact.

Mobile is a very personal medium though, so care is needed on the approach that mobile marketers take. Using an sms service too frequently will result in annoying and alienating your customers. It’s also a good idea to use the sms service to send other messages rather then just sales or marketing messages. That way you’re adding value to sms campaigns.

If you like to develop a mobile marketing strategy, the first stage is to set up a free account. You’ll get 10 free text credits to test the sms service. Or please feel free to call us on 0117 2050202, we’re always happy to have a chat.
