Route incoming keyword SMS’s to your mobile

A new feature added to the Text Marketer keyword/shortcode system today. You can now have all incoming responses to a keyword on 88802 forwarded on to a mobile phone number by SMS. This means when you receive an SMS to your keyword we can forward on the entire response to you.

Please note this works for keywords on our short code only, not txtUs.

Log into your account and navigate to “Settings” => “Account Details”

Change the alert mobile number to the mobile you wish to receive the response to and click submit.

Next, navigate to “Incoming SMS” => “Reply Settings” and click configure next to your keyword

Finally in the box labelled API URL (bottom left of screen) enter in the following: http://www.textmarketer.biz/gateway/ and click submit.

You’re all done, please note that it does require a credit to send the response to you so you’ll need to ensure you have enough credits in your account.

‘Football Fans in Training’ (FFIT) is an imaginative men’s health initiative that will see top flight football clubs help Scottish men get fit and lose some weight. Supporters are being encouraged to sign up for free sessions at their local Scottish Premier League (SPL) club with a view to becoming more active, feeling better and getting back in shape.

Fans can sign up by using a text response service provided by Text Marketer. By texting in FFIT to 88802, they’ll receive a call back asking them at which club they would like to attend a training session. The informality of using an sms response service for this type of initiative is a smart move. The programme is basically making it easier and more appealing for Scotland’s overweight blokes to get themselves moving. The text response option is far less daunting than filling in a form or ringing in to a call centre. They’re just giving people more choice about how they can get in touch.

The programme is being widely promoted in a number of channels including extensive coverage on the BBC website.

There are a few options to choose from if you’re considering having a text response on your advertising and marketing camapaigns. The first decision is whether you should use a short code like 88802 or whether a virtual mobile number would be a more suitable option. There’s a more detailed explanation of which tool is appropriate for which job here. Essentially, short codes are better for generating response from advertising and long codes are more suitable if you’re asking people to reply to a text that you send them or for more general enquiries.

Setting up an sms response service is very straightforward and low cost. Stage one is to open up a free account. From your account, you’ll be able to check the availability of your chosen keyword. Then it’s simply a case of setting an optional automated sms response and email alerts.

If you like to find out more about sms response or discuss any other element of your mobile marketing campaigns, please feel free to call us on 0117 2050202

How much does it cost someone to send a text to 88802?

It will cost them one text at their normal network rate. What exactly that is will depend on the individual’s network and tariff but is likely to be in the range of 8-12 pence. Sending a text to a short code is not included in a free text bundle tariff. So it will always cost 8 – 12 pence regardless of the network and tariff.

How much does it cost to send a text to a Txtus, virtual mobile number?

Texts sent to virtual mobile numbers cost one text at the sender’s standard rate. Texts are included in monthly free text allowance, so people on contracts will probably pay nothing at all. Pay as you go customers will be charged 8 – 12 pence depending on the network they’re using.

I’m not sure they’re succeeding very well and most commentators anticipate a low turnout.

There are a few campaigning groups that seem to be trying to rustle up some awareness though. One of them, www.no2av.org is using Text Marketer’s short code, sms response platform to try and engage people. The poster campaign which is currently being run at London bus stops, invites people to support the cause by texting no2av to 88802.

Using a text response as part of a political poster campaign is a sensible decision as it allows people to show their support (or otherwise) immediately; at the point at which they are most likely to have a strong view on whatever issue is being promoted.

Text Marketer’s text response service is a highly cost effective way of generating response from any marketing or advertising campaign. If the advertising is a direct response piece, trying to get people to act in some way, then there is a strong argument for ‘text-enabling’ the campaign.

As is the case with No2Av, having an sms short code response option is all about giving users a choice of how they make contact. It’s becoming increasingly normal to see an sms response option on tv ads and it seems most charity and car campaigns normally include a text option these days.

Getting a short code text response set up is very easy. All you need to do is set up an account. Once you’re logged in, you’ll be able to check that the keyword that you want is available. Then it’s simply a case of paying a monthly subscription for your keyword which can be cancelled at any time.

Please don’t hesitate to call us on 0117 2050202 if you like to discuss any element of your mobile marketing campaigns.

Using Short Code SMS

In the UK, sending an SMS to a short code usually involves a 5 digit number, such as 88888 or alike.

Most people use short code SMS as a quick and easily memorable number for people to text to from advertising. For example, you could say in your advert, “text INFO to 88802″ for more information. This short code is easier to remember than sending an SMS to a full 07xxxxxxxxx number.

At Text Marketer, we offer a full short code SMS service and we are also the cheapest short code supplier, starting at just £5 per month per keyword.

A unique short code SMS service

Text Marketer also has a unique twist to its short code SMS service. You can autorespond not only with a text message but also an email. This is great for sending back information to people from an advert and also capturing their mobile number and email address. It simply works by asking the person to include both the keyword and their email address in the message.

Get more response to your adverts

Study after study has shown that including a short code SMS response mechanism in your advertising should uplift response rates by around 25% and amazingly, up to half of people normally choose to respond using the short code option.

The best short code SMS service

We’ve aimed to make our short code SMS service the best by making it the cheapest and including the unique feature of auto responding by email. Every keyword is free for the first week as well (which you can cancel at any time) because we are so confident that Text Marketer offer you the best deal.

Why not take a free test drive of our unique short code SMS service and see for yourself?
