councils use sms alert serviceBrentwood Council has just launched a new bulk SMS service for its residents. The idea is to offer a text alert to remind people to put out their recycling on the correct day. The new sms alert scheme will be particularly useful when recycling days change around bank holidays.

To sign up to the text alert service, residents simply complete a simple, short online form and they will be automatically added to the bulk SMS list. The council is also making good use of Text Marketer’s unsubscribes service which allows people to quickly and easily remove themselves from the list. The text alert pilot scheme is already proving very popular and if successful, more SMS alert services will follow.

Brentwood are not the only local council to discover how bulk SMS can be a valuable communication channel. Text Marketer has seen increasing numbers of councils using SMS to improve their service. As they become ever more accountable, many see SMS as a frontline tool to engage with local residents. Text Marketer’s bulk sms platform is used by over 25 local councils.

One of the main reasons for its popularity is the ease with which local councils can get their own bulk SMS service up and running. Setting up an account takes just a minute or two and free credits means that councils can test the service before they spend any money. Text Marketer’s flexible payment systems allow them to raise and invoice for text credits rather than paying by credit card or debit card.

Text Marketer encourages all companies and local government departments to set up a free account and explore how SMS can improve customer communications. Please feel free to contact us if you’d like to discuss how SMS could be beneficial. our details can be found on the contacts page.
