Christmas sales marketing

The scarves are on, the trees are being decorated, the pigs are getting rolled in their blankets and presents are getting purchased – Christmas is almost here…

And we have some good news for you…

Consumer’s Christmas budgets are getting bigger!

Webloyalty research states that this year we are planning to spend a whopping £16.5 billion on Christmas shopping in the UK with the average Brit looking to spend a total of £442 this Christmas – it appears that it’s not just the thought that counts!

However these are things that we already know. Every year Christmas seems to get bigger with more advertising campaigns with bigger budgets that get rolled out a couple of days earlier than the year before. Lights get bigger and brighter and more money gets spent.

With the bigger companies flexing their big financial marketing muscles in the festive period, does that leave any space in the market for a smaller business?

Of course it does. However these big giants are not only rolling out big TV advertising campaigns. What a lot of people don’t see in the background is the supporting work done by their mobile marketing campaigns that will actually convert interested people into purchasing customers.

As the statisticians are frantically trying to work out the all the stats and figures from this year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday, some statements are coming through and this seems to be the most talked about one…

For the first time ever, more customers shopped online than in store on Black Friday, and mobile traffic exceeded desktop traffic!

“Whether it’s the growing percent of online sales completed on mobile devices, or mobile’s broader influence on all offline sales, which has doubled every year for the past three years, it’s very clear that mobile is changing how retailers market and how consumers buy”
said Erin Hintz, CMO of Urban Airship

So this year don’t panic that your messages will not get heard because they will if you market smart, and smart marketers, market with Text Marketer.
