Have you thanked your customers lately?

Sending a thank you message near Christmas time is a subtle but fabulous way to remind people to do business with you again.

Sounds obvious doesn’t it? But over 90% of businesses only thank their customers only at the time of their order and research shows that thanking them again at an appropriate time (let’s call that near Christmas for now!) reminds the customer about you, gives them a good feeling and makes them want to buy from you again.

It’s a simple but much under-utilised concept, called ‘passive selling‘. You don’t overtly set out to sell anything, you simply create the conditions in which a past customer feels happy to do business with you again and makes their own choices about what to buy.

Consider a simple text message campaign to your 2010 customers;
“Thank you from all the team at XYZ Co Ltd. We are very grateful for your business this year and we hope you have a warm & wonderful Christmas. www.xyzcoltd.com.”.

Send this as an SMS Campaign around the end of November or early December and you will create a reminder and a desire to do business with you again – perhaps in time for Christmas.

In a world of almost deafening overt sales tactics, consumers are beginning to respond more and more to the ‘subtle approach’.

And on that note, we’d like to thank all Text Marketer customers for their business and support over 2010 and we look forward to working with everyone in 2011 and beyond.
