Student SMS Alert Service Launched at Sunderland University

Students at Sunderland Uni can now expect to receive regular bulk sms alerts on a range of subjects concerning university life.

Using an SMS service is an obvious choice for this as messages can be set up in a matter of minutes and any number of students can receive the alerts at a specfied date ot time.

Non-attendeance at lectures is no longer a comfortable option with regular offenders receicing text alerts asking them to contact their tutors. The sms service is also proving particularly useful to remind students about important meetings and tutor appointments.

“Just to remind you that a meeting  will take place at 4pm today in Fleming Room 101 to discuss the issues you’ve recently raised.”

One of the main benefits of using sms services in a university is its cost effectivess. There is no set up fee or contract and the cost of bulk sms credits is just a few pence per text. We’ve seen a number of colleges and universities recently taking up our web to sms service as a way of keeping in touch.  Universities are now looking  at new ways to reduce their costs and using an sms services can certainly help reduce their communications spend.

Setting up an account is free and there is no monthly rental charge or contract. As there is no minumum order, universities can trial the sms service with a spend of just a few pounds. Text credits, once purchased, never expire so universities can take as long as they wish to use up their credits.
